when coloring, stay outside the lines

yooooo this month has been so cuh-razay fun! so far...here's some of my highlights:

My boyfriend moved into his house at school and they had a little chaos filled house warming to celebrate.

My inspiration for my outfit that evening was the Gucci spring 2011 collection and COLOR BLOCKING.

that's me to the left....how cute are my friends?!

Shirt, Skirt, Ring, Heels - H&M, bangles- Claire's Belt- Grandma's closet, yeah you heard me right

Notice the gold accessories highlighting our hundred watt smiles? Tyra banks in Lifesize reference anyone?

Later on this month I went out for lunch with friends and got the greatest gift of all: The cheese plate!

The most recent highlight of the month, fashion-wise and life-wise period, was going to see my friends co-worker in his debut drag performance!
Although we weren't the stars here's what we wore

Only I am truly man-repelling, but it was a gay bar so in opposite world I was the sexiest one!

dress- H&M , rings- H&M forever 21, cuff - claire's

"what are you going to prom?"

You may be wondering why in this photo I look like I am about to spit food into my boyfriend's Iphone's face. I still had some delicious frozen yogurt in there, and he made me laugh, as usual.

dress, rings and earrings - H&M , shoes - BCBG , purse - Vintage

My inspiration for this outfit you ask? I was going for african-tribal woman meets beyonce meets kate bosworth. Is that over-reaching?

It was such a beautiful day yesterday! My boyfriend had been craving a good sandwhich for weeks now (so he said) so we took advantage of the sunshine and went to DiBruno brothers to grab a couple of sammys and ate in Rittenhouse square. SO FUN!

DiBruno's sandwiches are only about eight dollars, and they fill them to the brim with any delicious meats and cheeses that you'd like, as well as two sides (I got potato salad and beet salad, I'm a foodie nerd, sorry)
My point is it was a good deal for the money and quality.

We then walked to a couple of shops like salvation army and this head shop my BF just had to visit. I, being ID-less, had to wait downstairs while he perused the goods. tsk tsk.

Me being the fatass, figuratively speaking of course, that I am, had to get some frozen yogurt. It's a cheaper and healthier alternative to gelato.

Expect a post of me and my girlfriends tonight. We're going karaoke-ing!!!

Cinco de Mono

First thing's first. I DYED MY HAIR

subtle, but still packs a punch mixed with other colors.

dress and shoes - roomie's closet , purse - UrbanOutfitters

Me frolicking in the fake waters of one of my talented roomie Amanda's paintings.

So here's the explanation of this posts title.

My other roomie just found out she has had mono for like a month. I don't want to celebrate such sad news but she seems fine now (see below) so Corona's for everyone!

 Mano y Mono! get it?

Here's a recap of what I've done these past few days....

On Tuesday I went to see a new play called Saturn Returns. It was playing at Christ church which is B E A utiful.

The play was pay what you like, so I paid a dollar, while my date paid five -.-
He always makes me look bad.

The play was about one man's life according to the cycles when Saturn returns to where it was when he was born. Saturn returns where it was on one's birth date on their thirtieth year, and this usually brings about great change. I don't know if i believe that because 30, 60 and 90 are just the average ages for marriage, divorce, death and birth. But maybe it is a cosmic thing, you never know. The play was amazing and very sad at the same time. I won't give away the ending. Afterwords if you donated you got a button for Theater Exile . Again my date outbid me: I payed one dollar while he gave two for our buttons saying "I'm in Exile". Pretty cool.

Afterwords we got ice cream at one of THE BEST places in Philly to do it.
Franklin Fountain. So delicious.
Old fashioned soda fountain and ice cream parlor
I got this treat called Stock Market Crunch - Rocky Road ice cream (my favorite) pretzel balls and hot peanut butter sauce! and whipped cream duh. Bliss in a little Chinese container (that's their to-go cup)

I almost forgot! On Saturday I also purchased a button from the Philadelphia 2011 Art Festival on Broad Street.

They turned this...
into this!
The theme was Paris :)

I wish Broad street looked that way all the time.

Sunday I went to brunch at the Union League. It's sort of a rich man society club you have to join.

It was for my mom's best friends husband. It was beautiful, but I should not have worn heels and walked ten blocks. I tried my first raw oysters and clams. Chewy, but delicious. The little girl next to me brought five books in her little Ralph Lauren purse. I texted. She ate bacon and carrots. It was a very entertaining day. Rich people are funny.

This week is finals week. Nuff' said. Psych I get paid to talk. Psych again. But seriously I finished one today with flying colors not to toot my own horn but beep beep rainbow. And two more on Monday. A trend I've been noticing is the lack of caring what one's appearance looks like. Come on people! The whole POINT ofsummer being near is to celebrate! Looking and feeling your best is the best part!

Well there's the re-cap of my weekend and early week. Wish me luck on finals!

fuzzy wuzzy

shirt - vintage, shorts- h&m, shoes- BCBG

don't you miss animal prints and the luxurious feel of fur in the summer? that's my only downside to the hot weather. So decided to think of some ways I could get in touch with my animal instincts without overheating. Lounging by my pool, (yes my COLLEGE DORM has a POOL) I had to bring some old magazines to keep me entertained as friends accidentally snoozed off while tanning.
In the September issue of VOGUE with Carrey Mulligan, which I discussed in my very first post, I noticed they talked about the fun one can have with furs in bright shades such as fuchsia and electric blue. My smile soon turned upside-down when I realized this issue came at a time when it was becoming cooler, but I was sitting in 80 degree weather.

going back to my dilemma - how to get in touch with my wild side in the heat?

I soon remembered I had a leopard shirt I recently bought at the Goodwill in my pile of laundry. I liked the combination of the bright blues in the mag and leopard print I found, so I combined them and, after seeing storm clouds in the a.m., I put on my version of rain boots in warm weather - BCBG black rubber jelly gladiators.

 go from hot to haute!

In a big coincidence, I saw one of my friends in class wearing black zebra print tights! Not exactly the coolest option in terms of degrees, but certainly cool in terms of kewl.

But how can we convert colorful fur into a summer access (new word for accessory)?

I'm recently kind of bored with my hair. So i considered cutting it and/or coloring. Doing both would make it look and feel like a little neon fur coat on you head! AND keep you cool...seriously considering.

(what i used to have) kinda miss it.

But i don't wanna be repetitive and wear out a good thing so maybe i can go from this to...

SUBTLE pink. It could work.
I wish i was brave enough for this even if it is a wig

So what are other ways to stay cool and fashion forward in summer but get in touch with you wild side at the same time?

Suede shirts, I know sounds hot but I've seen some versions at H&M and they feel pretty light. I want.
another alternative is to let yous shoes do the talking

Plus a bikini under any sort of coat is bound to keep you cool.
WOAH just went into H&M's website and I see they have a unisex collection and all the proceeds go to aids relief!! That's a first (no sarcasm, i meant the unisex collection)

It's pretty affordable as well. Here's the link to the items if you're curious!

Fashion Against AIDS H&M

So to come full () <----------------<< that's a circle

What have we learned today. One can evoke the same luxe wild look fur has in the winter with cool hair, shoes and clothing alternatives in the summer (leopard print anything hello) but one thing that should always be covered up no matter what season, well you know. rubber isn't just for rainy days. Be as wild as you want, but be safe! xoxoxoox Mom. =D

This weekend was filled with arts and entertainment news!
First, on Saturday Night Live Jesse Eisenberg hosted and Nicki Minaj was the musical guest. We learned that the usually shy-guy nerd and rap diva both have a great sense of humor! The show began with Eisenberg's monologue in which he explained his characters aren't like him at all and Mark Zuckerberg, as well as Andy Sandberg "doing" Zuckerberg, joined him on stage for a really "awkBERG" moment. Minaj was featured in a skit and the snl digital short in which she showcased sweet acting chops and her performances were amazing as well as he crazy outfits in which she could barely move.

Christian Siriano of Project Runway!

Second the SAG awards in which we saw all the stars in their couture, but a more relaxed mood.
my best dressed is...

January Jones of Mad Men
